Site Concept

So you’ve stumbled in some chaotic site and probably wondering what kind of moron can’t manage their own CMS. This post should give you, internet tourist, an idea what the hell you’re looking at. This may not be the barrel of monkeys you’re looking for, but if you have nothing better to do, it’d be nice of you to stick around and get our money’s worth.
The primary focus of this site is railroad/railway content, which is where most of the terminology is derived from. However we’ve been hiding some cool exclusive content in the attic for decades and figured it’s time we shared it. So what’s a drill track? It’s a long track that runs parallel to a main track, used by trains use to switch various lineside industries, without obstructing through traffic. “Drill” refers to the locomotive’s repetitive back and forth movement, exchanging cars at the various industry tracks (“drilling cars”). A drill track may also be used to service a lead—a track used to access a switching district (a collection of various carload industry trackage). A spur, while not necessarily originating from a drill track, is used to access a particular industry that is out of the way, and may have multiple tracks within the industry itself. We use these terms somewhat metaphorically to describe this site: a collection of unrelated subjects, some with various subtopics, all of the aforementioned usually having detailed individual pages.
Your friendly sysop has lived a life where people (and immediately available resources) are eternally incapable of answering questions…thus sysop always must solve every problem by oneself. If you’ve found this site looking for answers, hopefully you’ll find them here!
